Dimension
There is no equivalent project of such an industrial drilling magnitude in a remote and sensitive area within the Company today. The Tilenga oilfields are partly situated in a protected National Park, partly beneath the river Nile wetlands area, and within densely populated area in a rural and remote part of Uganda. Activities exposed to the risk of major incidents with severe potential consequences due to local environment and important presence of NGO’s. Factory Drilling with a well delivered every 4 days using 3 drilling rigs simultaneously will necessitate standardization of equipment and procedures, strict enforcement of Drilling & Well instructions, safe and efficient logistic management on site. The project is focused on delivering the lowest possible cost, which requires challenging TotalEnergies design concepts as well as substantially challenging the TotalEnergies referential. Heavy and waxy oils will be produced from 29 well pads, (with 9 located in a national park) and treated in a Production Center of 200,000bopd oil capacity and 650,000 bwpd of water treatment capacity. Reservoir pressure maintenance is ensured either by water injection and by polymer water injection depending on the reservoir’s characteristics. The project also includes an extended interconnecting network with temperature preservation. LPG extraction, storage and tankers loading facilities are part of the CPF facilities. Multicultural environment Ugandan rules and regulations, administrative requirements and technical authorizations as well as international codes for onshore plant will apply. Due to staggered development on CPF, it is expected that SIMOPS (Operations vs Construction), will occur on CPF.
Reporting line in organization : SU Support Supv / Production Supervisor(s) (Well Pad)
Activities
Well pad start-up preparation:
Prepare detailed procedures to cover all steps of the start-up sequence. Prepare Pre-Start-Up Check lists.• During commissioning phase :• Attend Operational Tests Procedures. Contribute to troubleshooting during the same. Contribute to punch listing. Follow up on punch list clearance.• Coordinate with OJT coordinator and trainers and take actively part in On Job Training Sessions with trainees / future junior operators, involving them in all preparation tasks. Contribute to evaluation of competencies of trainees to identify gap and requirement for further training.• Ensure trainees become familiar with procedures and routine operations. Train them on specific operations (Cellar CSE, pigging …).• Prepare system for first start-up after Handover. Carry out line-walks of CPF as per procedures ensuring systems are safe to start.• Well systems start-up:• Lead the activities on field during start-up phase, with assistance from Junior operators, ensuring strict adherence to procedures.• Report about any abnormal conditions during start-up and act immediately to keep process safe and under proper conditions.
Well operation and performance and ESP (ESCPC):
Operate wells and ESP (ESCPC) safely and efficiently. Understand processes in the well regarding flowing, wax and sand sedimentation, gas and water flows and others. Be able to calculate general parameters and estimate correctness of well operations. Troubleshoot in field and arc immediately as soon as abnormalize identified. Ensure optimized operation implementing adjustments under direction of the Production Supervisor and engineering team.
Well work and start-up operations:
Prepare well for well interventions such as slick line, wire line, coiled tubing and work over operations. Take part in well handover process. Carry out line-walks of pad as per procedures ensuring wells and pads are safe to restart. Start process in first oil and after shutdowns. Perform well start-up and clean-up after drilling and work over as same as after dewaxing and others well interventions from in-field side. Assist CRO with monitoring and adjustment operation parameters start-up of the wells for defined pads. Report about any abnormalize during start-up and act immediately to keep process safely and proper conditions.
Well pad operation:
Operate equipment on well pads and lake water including pumps, compressors, chemical injection packages and others. Report and correct all identified deviations in collaboration with the team. Directs truck operations on site such as steam truck and vacuum etc. Perform all other tasks related to his field of production activities on request of Production Supervisor.
Critical operations including pigging:
Be sure all operation implemented safely with all required documentation with sufficient approvals. Perform the operation strictly following instructions and procedures and request changes as soon as it is required following management of change procedure. Train junior operators on this critical task.
Emergency and safety:
Be fully aware of the Emergency Response Plans and act as ERT member as assigned. Ensure all operations are performing safely, stop any unsafe operations and report to the supervisor. Be sure that the system works properly and safely. Understand all safety equipment in operations and operate it in case of process safety incidents including integrity failure.
PTW:
Act as an operation and isolating authority and on site for PTW system. Prepare isolation certificates according to work management system. Lead operations and make sure all operations are in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. All control measures are sufficient and implemented in place. Perform all isolations and zero energy confirmation procedures mentioned in PTW and isolation certificate. Perform gas testing for PTW
Maintenance:
Perform maintenance L1 and L2. Prepare equipment for intervening maintenance and lead the operations. Take part in solving the problem from the operation side. Be sure all equipment is properly maintained on time and ready for operation.
• Routing operations:
Regularly daily safety and process rounds, sampling, monitoring, in-filed observation, housekeeping and other routing activities on well pad and water lake station. Check on a regular basis chemical injection efficiency and rates. Ensure all operations are performed on time and according to planning.
• Lessons Learned System:
Participate in Lesson Learned System. Register new events properly with corrective mitigations.
• Notifications:
Identify unnormal behavior of operating equipment and prepare notifications for MNT. Keep informed Prod SPV. Also, offer new solutions for the operation and process, get information for request for modification.
Reporting and documentation:
Prepare and provide regular in-field production reports regarding well pads, wells operation and equipment and water lake station in time and precisely. Carry out precisely all operation on site in a logbook. Participate in the update of PI&D’s and other operational documents as required
Clear communication:
Work closely with team. Keep CRO, Prod SPV and others informed of operation on site as required. Ensure good quality and accurate shift and rotation handovers are compiled and communicated with B2B. Ensure LO/LC Valves, LTI’s, disturbed hydrocarbon lines register is updated as required
Leadership:
Act as an owner of installation for coworkers and contractors. Be involved in operations on site and take active participation as for normal operation as for troubleshooting in field. Be an example for others on the side in terms of safety. Act as a technical leader on site for site operators focusing on in-field newcomers and share information you have with colleagues.
