These initiatives function as active monitoring and risk management mechanisms, tailored to each site's scope and based on a risk-driven approach. The role focuses on planning and implementing forward-thinking strategies to enhance Health and Safety performance across the EACOP project. This is an office-based position located in Dar es Salaam, with working hours from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

The H&S Enhancement Coordinator will be part of a team that supports each site in developing proactive Health and Safety initiatives. These initiatives function as active monitoring and risk management mechanisms, tailored to each site's scope and based on a risk-driven approach. The role focuses on planning and implementing forward-thinking strategies to enhance Health and Safety performance across the EACOP project. This is an office-based position located in Dar es Salaam, with working hours from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate Health and Safety Planning meetings with multiple construction and H&S department personnel
- Develop tailored HS Work Instructions, Pre-Start Briefs, Assessment Content, and Inspection Schedules
- Conduct & Align HS Activity planners to critical construction milestones and plans
- Develop Health and Safety Campaign content structured and aligned to scope and risk
- Track, monitor and review Health and Safety enhancement activities
- Develop reports on enhancement activities
- Review leading and lagging indicators and further align to developed enhancement work packs
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- In the absence of a degree, 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar Health and Safety role is required.
- Professional certification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
- Additional training in risk management, project planning, or construction safety is considered an asset.
- Construction background in mechanical or civil engineering is desirable.
- Experience in Oil and Gas construction, including greenfield and brownfield projects, is highly desirable
- 5+ years of experience in Health and Safety roles, preferably within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing H&S initiatives, including work instructions, safety briefs, and inspection schedules.
- Experience in facilitating multi-disciplinary planning meetings involving construction and H&S personnel.
- Strong background in risk-based safety planning and aligning safety activities with critical construction milestones.
- Demonstrated ability to track, monitor, and report on safety performance and enhancement activities.
- Familiarity with leading and lagging indicators and how to integrate them into actionable safety improvement plan
- Proven experience working within large project organizations, with a strong focus on construction delivery.
- Advanced proficiency in industry-standard applications, including Aconex, Power BI, SharePoint, Adobe, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Canva, MS Planner, MS Forms, and MS Lists.
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to clearly articulate engineering and technical concerns and solutions to diverse teams.
- Physically capable of conducting field inspections when needed, including in challenging terrain.
- Self-motivated, autonomous, and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration with construction crews and management teams.
- Solid understanding of project HSE strategies and commitments.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret plans, policies, and regulations accurately.
- Skilled in concise daily report writing.
- Experience in staff coaching, including knowledge transfer, mentoring, and motivation techniques.
- Strong networking, collaboration, and team-working skills, especially in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environments.
- Fluent in English and Swahili; proficiency in Chinese and Luganda is highly desirable.
