Qualification Required & Experience
·Bachelor's degree in preferably in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or any engineering field.
·Minimum 8 years drilling operational experience. Preferred experience includes land / West Africa drilling experience, as well as experience working in remote locations.
·Experience in designing of mud / cement programs and the supervision of drilling and completion fluids services contractors, including the Solids Control and Waste Management and Cementing and Pumping service is mandatory.
·Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French
·Ops. Drilling Engineers must hold a valid IWCF Well Control certificate at Supervisor level.
Key Responsibilities And Tasks
·This position is office based and dedicated towards running one specific drilling rig. The line manager is the Wells Manager.
·Provide technical and operational support to drilling operations, resolving operational issues and advising on corrective techniques.
·Participate in the preparation of well designs with the required fluid and cementing programs, including collecting data about offset wells, reviewing performances of previous wells, and actively generating lessons learned and optimization.
·Design mud programs and supervise drilling and completion fluids services contractors, including the Solids Control and Waste Management;
·Design cementing programs and supervise cementing services contractors.
·Logistical Support: Equipment.Assist Drilling Superintendent with co-ordination with MP Logistic Team to transport required material / equipment to the rig site
·Logistical Support: People. Assist Drilling Superintendent with co-ordination with MP Logistic Team to mobilize Drilling Fluid / Solid Control & Waste Management and Cementing Service personnel to the rig site.
·Monitor the inventory including long lead items and coordinate future needs/call offs to prevent shortfalls. This involves ordering and ensuring delivery ahead of the time required by the rig. It is important to liaise closely with the MP Material Man and to make sure the stock is robust.
·Complete Cost Tracking Sheet and Time – Depth Curve daily basis and QA the daily look ahead for the rig activity (Drilling Superintendent responsibility) and make sure the distribution list is OK.
·Check and approve monthly service tickets for Drilling Fluids, Solid Control & Waste Management and Cementing Service and support Finance team issuing the Bon Receptions for each ticket.
